What is Bullion?

When they hear the word bullion most people think of a stack of gold bars. Basically bullion is a description of any precious metal in its pure form. Gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion is formed into bars, ingots, etc... but many people don't know that bullion is also produced as coins and rounds. The 1 ounce Gold American Eagle coin is a US Mint produced bullion coin. A bullion coin as compared to a collectible or rare coin has little or no numismatic value.

When you purchase a bullion bar or coin you are buying a product that is worth it's value in the pure form of the underlying precious metal. Some of the most common gold bullion products are in bar and coin form. You can purchase gold bars from 1 gram to up to 100 ounces. There are larger bars (400 Ounces), but they are purchased by central banks and used for the various commodity exchanges. You can also purchase bullion coins in fractional amounts (1/10, 1/4, & 1/2 oz.). Some of the most common bullion coins are Gold American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, Kruggerands, & Austrian Philharmonics.

At Hough Precious Metals we stock many of the most common bullion products available on the market. Please contact us for great prices and great service.
